OklaHobie Talks Tulsa
In February 2020, just before the coronavirus became a thing in the US, our company (Gateway) hosted our National Sales Rally in Tulsa, Ok. Typically, we hold this event in a large city like Dallas, but as a new Commissioner on the Dept. of Tourism and Recreation, I pushed hard to have the event in Tulsa. We had 600 salespeople flying in from across the country (This was just before Covid so it wasn’t a “super-spreader” event) and I knew Tulsa would be a great host city!
However, I kept catching heat from people wondering why we were having the meeting in Tulsa and not a larger city. So I decided to create a video to get people excited about coming to Tulsa. And that’s when “OklaHobie” was born.
During the Sales Rally event (Tulsa was a huge success!), I gave a few “OklaHobie” T-shirts away to my most vocal pre-event naysayers as a parting gift. That prompted other attendees to ask if I had any t-shirts for sale. And that’s when I decided to come up with a website and try to sell a few t-shirts.
The goal is to raise awareness and maybe get a few more people to come check out Oklahoma for themselves. And if I manage to raise any money, I’ll use it to support Oklahoma tourism.
Thanks for watching.

The Sales Rally was held at the Downtown Tulsa Hyatt Regency. They did a great job and are easy to work with!
We had a Journey Tribute concert at Osage Casino. Terrific facility and close to Downtown Tulsa!
Me and some buddies hanging out before the show!
